Cargo ship tips over, 4,700 Mazdas aboard

A ship carrying 4,700 Mazdas has tipped over off the coast of Alaska. Despite being in a precarious position, the ship is safe and is not sinking. All 23 crew were rescued safely and whilst the cars haven't been inspected it's probably safe to assume that most of them will have to be scrapped.

Officials with Mazda Motor Corp. said more than 4,700 of the cars on board the Cougar Ace are various Mazda models, including the popular lines, Mazda3 and CX-7. The cars were being shipped from Japan to Vancouver, Tacoma, Wash., and Port Hueneme, northwest of Los Angeles. [ via ]

Piercing record smashed

Matt Robison of Ottawa entered the record books on Saturday after being pierced 1,016 times in one sitting.Matt, a hairdresser, and his piercing bud Charlie Wilson, were reportedly hoping for a massive 3,000 piercings this time round.

Matt doesn't seem concerned though: "When the rings are all in it feels as if I’m wearing body armour," quotes the rag.

The event was recorded on video to be sent to the record verifiers at the Guinness Book of World Records, and everyone who watched the piercings signed a log that is being mailed with the video.

Before Saturday, Robison had 26 piercings on his body. After the record was set Saturday, 1,015 of his new piercings were removed, leaving one in his body -- the record breaker.

The Bookman is a bookshelf in the shape of a man and is a highly decorative piece of furniture as well as a sculpture.

Designed by East Anglian artist Kazmierz Szmauz who also designed the CDMan, the DVDMan and Videoman. However, as booksellers we regard Bookman as his highest achievement. The Bookman holds about 100 books and looks most splendid when they are leatherbound books which we can also supply.

He measures 70 inches high by 45 inches wide and is made from Mahogany, although other woods can be used. Shelves are best adapted to books beneath 8 inches in height.
